What To Do When Mac Can't Connect to Server on Local Network

After moving, I wanted to setup my NAS again, and I’ve spent around 5 hours trying to see what’s the problem, why can’t I connect to the server.

First I’ve asked ChatGPT, he gave a lot of resources, so I’ve tried some and nothing worked.

Next, I got an idea to try from a mobile device, and sure enough, it could connect. My phone and iPad could connect to NAS easily, but my Macbook couldn’t.

So then I tried on Mac with Safari, and somehow that worked as well, but terminal and Brave still didn’t work.

So since ChatGPT didn’t provide enough answers and started running around the circles with answers, I’ve started googling. Found the solution here.

To spare you the trouble of reading the whole thread and to spare the trouble of the post being deleted potentially, here’s what to look for:

Try: Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Local Network and enable your browser(s), you should be able to access the GUI

There, enable all the apps that you think should have access to local network. I’ve enabled Brave and iTerm.

I hope this helps somebody to solve the issue quicker than I did.
